Excerpt from Liz's book:
"We drove for a few minutes, but had to walk most of the way up to the buildings surrounding the Taj Mahal. It was absolutely amazing! It is made entirely of white marble and is completely symmetrical. Shah Jahan built it for his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. She is entombed inside of it. Outside, there are a bunch of different gardens and pools of water leading up to the building. We stayed there until dusk, just taking pictures and wandering around. If you want to go inside, you have to take your shoes off, as in any temple or similar building. The inside was okay, but it's really the outside you could stare at for hours. I don't think it is possible to take a bad picture of the Taj Mahal — it is perfect at every angle and in any light. The only downside of the Taj Mahal is the stinky river that runs behind it. You cannot see it or smell it until you are walking around the building itself. Nevertheless, the detail of the Taj Mahal is breathtaking, and we enjoyed it until the sun had set.
"Somehow our tour guides arranged for us to pick up a bunch of personal pizzas at Pizza Hut for dinner. I can't remember the time I had Pizza Hut at home, but this was pretty good and really hit the spot! Not very ethnic, but I was over all the curry by that time anyway."
